Although the hike can be physically demanding, once we locate the gorillas, all fatigue is forgotten, as this experience is often described as being the most profound natural history experience in the world! To be within feet of a Silverback male Mountain Gorilla and his family is very humbling and incredibly exciting!

*This Gorilla trekking trip will be combined with a 5-day safari in Tanzania! After our time trekking for gorillas in Rwanda and Uganda, we’ll fly to the famous Serengeti National Park in Tanzania for an exciting 5-day safari, including a visit to Ngorongoro Crater!

Tanzania is famous for its national parks such as the vast savannas of the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater where more than 25,000 animals live!, It is also home to the highest mountain in Africa, Kilimanjaro, and is the setting for many documentaries about the legendary wildlife spectacle, the seasonal migration of 1.5 million wildebeest!

Every trip to Tanzania offers exceptional wildlife viewing, including sightings of predators, such as lions, leopards, and cheetah, as well as iconic species like elephants, giraffes and rhinos. While on safari in Tanzania, it is impossible to not be moved by the sheer beauty and magnificence of the country and its wildlife. This trip is like getting two trips in one! While on safari, we will be in open-sided 4X4 vehicles with expert ranger guides. We will visit the world famous Kruger National Park, in addition to other areas. Botswana Safari

Botswana is landlocked between Namibia to the west, South Africa to the south/southeast, and Zimbabwe to the northeast.

It has the largest inland delta in the world, the Okavango Delta, which opens up into the Kalahari Desert. Being a very dry country, the waters of the Okavango Delta are literally life-giving and form a wondrous habitat where wildlife viewing is at a premium!

A Botswana safari is truly a trip of a lifetime! Vet-Ex can create a custom Botswana safari to fit your special interests or you can join our group. The upscale safari camps that we use have open-sided, extended landrovers for optimal viewing and photography and are limited to 6 people per vehicle so everyone has a window seat and an empty seat between them for their gear. Our typical safaris will either begin or end at the amazing Victoria Falls and will also visit the northern Linyanti region of Botswana where elephants and predators are abundant.

Carol has lived and worked in Botswana, knows the country well, and is uniquely qualified to plan an outstanding safari for you. She also guides several safaris per year and will guide private safaris on request. Most safaris are between 10-12 days long with two days at Victoria Falls and the remainder of time divided between exclusive safari camps into three different regions of Botswana to optimize your experience. The Vet-Ex itinerary is arranged so you’ll visit very different habitats, thus maximizing your natural history experience. From the wonderful Perinet Reserve in the eastern rainforest with the stunning black and white Indri lemur to a trip south to the spiny forest where ring-tailed and sifaka lemurs are unafraid and go about their day unfazed by your presence, you’ll be amazed by the bizarre wildlife at every turn! Photographic opportunities abound throughout the trip as you visit enchanted rainforests, hike along huge sandstone formations in Isalo National Park or visit the dry deciduous forest of Ampijoroa in the west where one can encounter the beautiful Coquerel’s sifaka. We have created a special itinerary that focuses on seeing and experiencing as much of the wildlife and birdlife as possible within a 2-week period in such a vast country!

While exploring this diverse landscape, we will be searching for species such as kangaroos, wallabies, kookaburras, cockatoos, echidnas, wombats, and hopefully the elusive koala and platypus! We'll also see several famous landmarks that give tribute to great architecture such as the Opera House and Harbour Bridge in Sydney as well as natural wonders such as the beautiful Blue Mountains!
We'll be there during Australia's spring to make the most of snorkeling on the Great Barrier Reef, where the colors of its teeming life will dance before your eyes! In addition to all the wildlife we'll see, we have planned behind the scenes tours and up-close experiences with animals at several places. This adventure to an incredibly bio-diverse paradise is one that you won't want to miss!
